Frequency of Beta Thalassemia in Anemic Pregnant Women

Objective: To determine the frequency of beta thalassemia trait among pregnant women presenting with anemia.
 Method: A cross sectional study was conducted in Gynecology & Obstetric department, district headquarters hospital Mardan from January 2019 to June 2020. This includes all who presented anemia and having age 15 45 years. Patients known hemoglobinopathies were excluded study. Collected data analyzed using SPSS 20.
 Results: Mean patient 27.7 years mean hemoglobin level 8.7g/dl. Age distributions showed mother 25 40%, 26 36 35% 25%. Thalassemia found 40% anemic women. percentage high years.
 Conclusion: Beta is a common cause pregnancy. All should be investigated for it.
